Why Kill Popups?
Popups slow your surfing by clogging your internet connection with advertisements. Popups can put inappropriate content on your hard drive that you do not want. Content that you must remove from your hard drive - cookies, cache, histories, and index dat files. It is very easy to stop popup ads. You do not need to install special software to stop popups. You do not need to switch your internet service provider. As a matter of fact it is something you can do very easily. All you need to do is kill javascripts and / or stop active scripting from running on your windows computer.
By taking control of javascripts, you can also stop web tracking. That is because the services that some sites use to track you is controlled by javascript on the web page. Stop it from running and you increase your privacy while surfing. You can also eliminate all those network text ads and some network banner ads that are on websites. Yes, you can eliminate some advertisements from your screen just by turning off javascript. Fewer ads means that less has to be downloaded before a page can be viewed. Fewer outside connections means that web pages will load faster.
Why does this work? The answer is simple, javascript is a client side application. That means instead of using their resources to do something, they depend on your computer to do all the work. The popup script is usually in the header part of the html file. The trigger in in the body tag. It is usually an onload or unload command. The banner ads and web tracking work usually between the opening and closing body tags of a document. If javascript is not supported, these commands do not get acted on and nothing happens. If your computer is not processing the commands your computer can do other things faster. An added reward for turning off javascript is that your surfing and your computer will be faster.
Some sites may not work properly if they depend on javascript for things. But if your browser is advanced enough you can have it allow certain sites / domains to run javascript.
You can use web washing programs to filter out javascripts, but you are reducing the limited resources that your computer has by adding another program. In addition, if the programs are not configured properly your computer will not be stealthed when using a firewall. Just something to think about. You can check to see if your computer is stealthed by going to the major firewall companies like Sygate or Zonealarm. They both offer a free personal edition.
Once you turn off javascript you will eliminate cyber-spam like pop-up windows, alerts, banners; and you will surf faster, and will have less inappropriate content downloaded and stored on your computer. If you wish to securely remove all the inappropriate content from your computer please visit our home page or check out the menu items on the right side of this page. Happy Surfing.
